Alcatel Lucent reaches new heights with Oracle Agile PLM

Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (ALE) is a globally recognized provider of technology solutions in the digital age, connecting people, machines, things, and processes. Headquartered in France, ALE has been delivering customized technology experiences to more than 800,000 global customers over the last 100+ years.

As a top Oracle partner specializing in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), thrive.gs by GoSaaS has been a partner of choice for ALE for several projects over the years to accelerate its digital innovation. Using our robust implementation methodologies, integration, migration, and consulting services, thrive.gs by GoSaaS successfully completed the migration of on-premises Agile PLM servers to AWS on time and within budget.

Business Challenges:

In September 2020, ALE initiated the migration of its two main business applications to AWS in collaboration with thrive.gs. Prior to the migration, the client was facing critical business challenges that needed immediate rectification to ensure seamless operations and cost efficiencies. With this migration, ALE wanted to achieve the following:

100%

Bring cost optimization

As the client’s data grows exponentially. Previously, the data were stored in third-party data centers, making data management costly and complicated.

100%

Increase data efficiency and availability

By moving it to the Cloud from on-premise data centers. The client also wanted to benefit from modern cloud technologies.

100%

Simplify business operations by migrating data to AWS cloud

Enabling better collaboration across the enterprise.

100%

Fuel innovation

By running business applications on AWS workloads.

Solution

GoSaaS designed a three-phased strategy to complete the project and helped the client address its key business challenges. In the first phase, thrive.gs migrated Agile PLM 9.3.6 QA servers to AWS. This phase included the following key activities:

  • Installation of Oracle Agile PLM 9.3.6 on newly provisioned QA servers on AWS Cloud.

  • Ensuring the backup of the current QA system and restoration on the new cloud servers.

  • Performance testing and data verification.

After rigorous testing and verification on QA servers, thrive.gs proposed AWS EC2 instances specifications for Production servers to the ALE infrastructure team.

In the second phase, Production servers were migrated to AWS cloud with the same methodology adopted during the QA server migration.

The solution significantly reduced costs and enabled the client to stay one step ahead of technological advances by integrating modern cloud technology.

Finally, thrive.gs team completed a rigorous testing on the client's Production server and the dump was migrated from the Production server to AWS server.

The project was completed in January 2022.

On Partnering with Experts
